About
My name is Big Monster Love. This is of course not my birth name alas and alack. For the past 6 years I’ve been plying indie pop tunes in myriad venues scattered around the economic and cultural nerve centres of this isle, ie Dublin, Galway, and Cork. I’ve also done shows occasionally further afield. In 2006 I released the “Perils of Internet Dating” EP one of the songs from which was covered by the venerable So Cow on the sadly now deleted So Cow In A Shed EP. Intermittantly I’ve put out a few tunes online including a Christmas song or two.
At the end of 2010 I joined the Popical Island collective and in February 2011 my debut album “Game Over” was released to minimal acclaim. I have a song featured on the forthcoming Popical Island #3 compilation and shall be releasing an EP of brand new tunage circa May/June 2012.
What kind people have said about me before:
“Really cool lyrics and beautiful melodies that sound gorgeous.” Mik Pyro, Republic of Loose
“He quite simply fills ye heart with both sad lament and glee.” Sandman Magazine UK
“the complete Dublin songsmith” Clonan Attack Online
“With an eloquence that can only be described as elegiac, what makes Big Monster Love quite wonderful is his ability to show as much love for the place that clearly shapes his music, as he does distaste.” Like A Drummer Blog
“This is what pop music is all about. Not cheesy radio filler, but charming and entertaining lines over a catchy, memorable tune. Big Monster Love has a knack for rhyme and wordplay that puts him above almost every other songwriter out there.” Swear I’m Not Paul Blog
